The 3 Musketeers

Image
The 3 Musketeers, it's us! Because they are actually 4 馃槒 Let me introduce them to you: on the left is Nelly. From Brittany, she's been living in England in the London area for 30 years. I met her in the ladies room at the stadium in Exeter at the France/Ireland game. She's the biggest sports fan I've ever met, fan of ALL sports: rugby, football, tennis and even, cricket... She really needs to get into hockey now 馃槈. She, of course also had tickets for the semifinals so we had arranged to meet up in Bristol. On the bus between London and Bristol, she met Koumiba (on her left and on my right so, between the two of us 馃槄). Former rugby player for France and for Montpellier (among other teams), originally from Alsace, she now lives in Bayonne where she is a massage therapist. For the other 2 Musketeers, I don't think they need to be introduced... The 4 of us spent 48h together litterally vibrating to the energy of the World Cup. I hadn't had fun like that in a long...

Girl Power!

Women is THE main theme in our lives at the moment. Because of the rugby world cup of course, but not only. If you're not following this event, I can confirm that both Canada and France have won their quarter finals game and qualified for the semi-finals. And in both cases, we were there to support them:   Canada, playing with confidence, nicely beat Australia 46 to 5馃憤. For the French it was more complicated but they managed to win it over the Irish 18 to 13 in a absolutely crazy game! We went through all the emotions and we screamed so hard we didn't have any voice left at the end of the game 馃槄. The beauty of women's rugby is that is remains accessible. By the price to begin with but most of all, because of the contact that is still possible with the players. After the game it's possible to go down to the sidelines and talk with them, congratulate them and take photos. J茅r么me was really happy to pose with Manon Bigot, a player he really likes. As soon as she got on t...

Castles, slate a a little rubgy

Don't judge a book by its cover, the weather has actually gotten better these past few days. We even took the sandals out again!! On this photo we are in Northern Wales, in South Stack where there is a lighthouse and a natural reserve and also an observation tower where volunteers tell us all about the local wildlife. The guy that what there said (this was shortly before we took this picture): "get your sunscreen ready, the sun is coming!" Yeah, sure... 馃槒. Well, he was right because 2 hours later: So, it's with good conditions that we discovered this nice area. I love castles and I was in for a treat! There are plenty around and that's all thanks to Edward馃槒. Here's a short history lesson: in the 13th century Edward 1st of England went off to conquer Wales. He was successful but obviously the Welsh were not thrilled about this. So, in order to show his power and establish his authority he built castles, lots of castles, the main one being the very massive C...

Croeso i Gymru

Hi everyone! We've been on the road for a month already and are now in Wales after another full week. Full of rain to begin with ☂☂. Having chosen Great Britain as a destination this was to be expected, maybe even more so because we were so lucky at the beginning of our journey! But for the past ten days or so the days pretty much all look alike; we have all types of weather and all seasons in a day. So, we never go out without our raincoat even if the sun is shining, we keep taking layers on and off  and if it's raining, we also don't forget our sunglasses because we know the sun will be back 馃槑.  But so, so weather is also a good opportunity to visit cities, and it so happens that Glasgow was right on our route. We spent 24h there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The city is very different than Edinburgh, more modern with a young spirit thanks to its 2 universities, and also less touristic but just enough as there are very interesting things to see such as some nice stre...
